Defibrillator at the Cornhill Squash Club

To All Members

The Cornhill Squash Club Committee is pleased to announce that we have agreed to purchase and install a defibrillator externally at the Club property.

Please see the attached letter. A similar note has also been delivered to the eleven other properties on the Cornhill estate. This letter explains the background and details our plan to fund this equipment and the electrical installation.

We do hope that you recognise the importance of this decision for both our Club's membership and for our neighbours who reside at Cornhill.

We obviously hope the the defibrillator will never have to be brought into action but we know from recent history that players at Cornhill are potentially susceptible to heart attacks or strokes. In the UK, there are over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests each year. Every minute without CPR and a defibrillator reduces our survival chances by up to 10%.

If you are able to contribute to the costs of this equipment, it would be greatly appreciated. There is no minimum or maximum sum - just whatever, if anything, you are able to afford in these difficult times. Details are in the attached letter.

We will provide training to any members who wish to be able to use the defibrillator with confidence. This training will follow the installation - we will update you with dates and timings once we have fully engaged with suppliers and contractors.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to respond to this communication.

Regards
John Carrington
