Squash Summer League Entries - Last Chance Saloon!

Good Morning All

48 hours to go before the 19th April cut-off for entries into the first 5-week period of the Cornhill Squash Club Summer League, starting on Monday 6th May 2024.

We currently have 38 members who have signed up for this competition (see list below) - our highest number ever for the Summer League. This includes 11 members who have not previously played in the Summer League at Cornhill. Thank you all for your enthusiasm!

As things stand, it is likely that the first 5-week period will have four divisions of either 9 or 10 players in each. As indicated previously, all the divisions will be equal in merit, even though they will be numbered 1-4 in MYCOURTS. This means that the ultimate challenge will be to play a couple of league games each week to play all of your divisional opponents. However, it is acknowledged that not everyone will be able to play 100% of their matches throughout the 20 weeks of this competition - families, work, holidays, injuries and illness will get in the way of achieving this.

The motto for the Summer League is "Play as many matches as you can!"

Once we have passed the entry deadline date, we will set about the delicate task of allocating the handicaps to each player. These handicaps will last throughout the 20 weeks of the Summer League and will be based on a combination of previous handicap levels, Winter League performances, Knockout Trophy performances, age, insider information from other squash clubs, the contents of any brown envelopes received (only joking) and any other relevant data that we can get our hands on!

The first reveal of the handicaps and the initial 5-week divisions will be at the Cornhill Squash Club Mid-Season Social at The Wharf Pub between 4pm and 7pm on Friday 3rd May.

If you still wish to join the first period of the Summer League, please just respond to this communication by Friday night, 19th April.
