Cornhill Squash Summer League Details and Handicaps

Dear All

As at today, we have 24 entrants for the 2022 Cornhill Summer League. As previously advised, this competition will run in two 10-week periods for the next 20 weeks:

Period 1 will run from 9th May to 17th July.
Period 2 will run from 18th July to 25th September.

The aim is to play as many of your opponents as you can during each of the two periods - therefore, in theory, you could play 23 matches in each period and 46 matches overall across the Summer League period. I suspect that there will be very few players who are able to play this number of games, so just play as many as you can.

Each player has been allocated a handicap (see attachment) and this will apply to all of the games you play throughout the summer. You will start each set on your handicap number. This will hopefully make for some very competitive matches.

Each match is the best of 5 sets, first to 21, scoring off both serve and return. Each player automatically receives one point for turning up to play, therefore the results will be 4-1, 4-2 or 4-3 to be recorded on MyCourts (generally by the winner). Occasionally, there could be a drawn game if the 40 minute deadline is reached without an outright winner.

The Summer League Champion will be the player who accumulates the most points over the entire 20 weeks.

All matches should be played with a single yellow spot ball.

Of the 24 entrants, 15 are in the Cornhill Social WhatsApp Group that can be used for arranging the Summer League games. If anyone else wants to join this WhatsApp group, please just send me a response to this communication and I will add you in.

Finally, we have four brand new members in this Summer League, so please try your best to play these guys if at all possible. You can start booking your games now but please be aware that Alex Valente is not yet set up on MyCourts - that will happen in the next few days.

Any queries, just shout.

Good Luck!

Regards
John Carrington
