Cornhill Squash Club AGM Minutes and Fees Update

To All Cornhill Squash Club Members

Please find attached the minutes of the Annual General Meeting of the Cornhill Squash Club that was held on Wednesday 18th May 2022.

An important element of the AGM agenda was a discussion and vote regarding the fee structure of the Club.

As a reminder, we wrote to the membership in March this year (see attached for reference) to advise you of the Cornhill Squash Club Committee’s proposal to increase the annual subscriptions from September 2022 and to incorporate the court light fee into the court booking fee as soon as was practical.

These changes to the subs and fees are unfortunate but necessary in the current economic climate, particularly in light of the significant increases in electricity costs that are affecting all households, businesses and leisure facilities at this present time. The Committee believes that the changes are reasonable in the circumstances and still maintain that Cornhill offers the lowest cost squash anywhere in Northamptonshire and the surrounding area.

This proposal received unanimous support from all members who attended the AGM, as you will note from the attached minutes.

The annual subs will increase in line with the rates shown in the minutes from the Renewal date in September 2022.

The court booking fees on MyCourts will be amended to £6 per 40 minutes (£3 per player) for all games to be played from Friday 27th May. At the same time, the requirement to pay for the court lights through the meter will cease, ie there will be no separate charge for the lights from this date. To activate the court lights, you will need to turn on the lights by using the switch that is located just above the light meter in the viewing gallery (see photo below). Please do not attempt to feed any coins into the light meter - there is no requirement to do this from 27th May.

After your squash game has finished, you must remember to switch the court lights off again in the viewing gallery. This is not an automatic process, although that option may be considered in the future.

This change to the booking fee to include the court lights will be run on a trial basis throughout the Summer League period and will be reviewed at the end of September, prior to the Winter League starting in early October 2022.

Therefore, from 27th May, the Cornhill Squash Club will become cashless, with all playing fees being managed through MyCourts. This is a great stride forward for the Club, whilst helping to bridge the gap in our finances.

We sincerely hope that the wider membership support these agreed changes, introduced in the best interests of your Club. If you do have any comments regarding these changes, please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Committee, whose details are displayed in the ground floor lobby.

Enjoy your squash.

Regards

The Cornhill Squash Club Committee
