Cornhill Squash Club Summer League 2022 UPDATE

Dear All

We are approaching the end of the 1st period of the 2022 Summer League that concludes on 17th July.

26 members have played over 90 games to date which is a good effort, particularly given that four members have been struggling with long-term injuries and some of our new members have only been playing for a few weeks.

As things stand, there is a great battle at the top of the league as we reach the half-way stage of this competition. Don't forget that the Summer League Champion will be the player who accumulates the most points over the entire 20 week period.

The 2nd period of 10 weeks will commence on Monday 18th July and run through to Sunday 25th September.

UNLESS YOU ADVISE ME OTHERWISE BY FRIDAY 15th JULY, I will include everyone from the 1st period in the 2nd period plus Mike Cunningham, Raj Khepar, Harry Ward and Terry Cattle. If you did play in the 1st period but don't want to play in the 2nd period, please respond to this communication.

Additionally, if there are any other members who didn't play in the 1st period but would like to play in the 2nd period, please also respond to this communication.

On my original Summer League communication back in May, I suggested that the handicaps for this competition would remain unchanged for the duration of the 20 weeks. However, it is evident that I misjudged a small number of handicaps for some of our new members and will therefore attempt to correct this in the 2nd period. For longstanding members, your handicap will remain unaltered. The handicap range from minus 12 to plus 14 will also be unaffected.

Just some advance warning for the 2nd period - it is likely that the squash court will be out of action for two or three days at some point whilst the court floor and walls are being refurbished. More to follow on this once the contractors have confirmed their schedule.

Finally, in the 2nd period, there will be a total of 8 new members who have joined Cornhill since April this year - please could everyone try their best to contact the "newbies" and offer them a league game.

Enjoy your squash

Regards
The Cornhill Squash Club Committee
