Cornhill Summer League 2022 Final Results

Dear All

The Cornhill Summer League came to a conclusion yesterday, 25th September. This competition ran for 20 weeks from May this year, in two periods of 10 weeks each.

The second period was again very competitive, although no-one managed to topple David Millard from the top spot. David won all of the 20 games that he played in this period.

In second place was Hamer Francis, just two points behind David, followed by Tim Freed, a further eight points behind Hamer.

Congratulations to David, Hamer and Tim for their exploits during the second period.

In the overall Summer League competition, these three guys also featured in the top three positions, albeit in a slightly different order:

Summer League Champion - David Millard - played 39 matches and won them all off a handicap of minus 12. In summary, David was impossible to beat, no matter the size of the gap between his handicap and those of his opponents! A fantastic effort!

Overall Second Place - Tim Freed - played 40 matches and won 30 of them. Tim, playing off a handicap of plus 5, ended up 12 points behind David. Well played Tim!

Overall Third Place - Hamer Francis - played 38 matches and won 29 of them. Hamer, playing off a handicap of plus 6, ended the summer 14 points behind Tim, but continued to be a threat right up to the last few days of the competition. Another fine effort!

Across the entire Summer League, 29 members played 234 games - the third highest number of games played since 2005. Thank you to everyone who took part over the summer months.

Attached you will find three sheets - the first period, the second period and the final combined Summer League Results - check them out and see where you finished!

Finally, we have 27 members signed up so far for the 2022-23 Winter League, starting on 3rd October. If you want to enter this competition, I need to know by Thursday 29th September at the latest. Please respond to this note if you want to be included and you haven't previously advised me.

Enjoy your squash.
